Soei Chieko Mihori has been teaching Ikebana for over 50 years. Originally from Japan, she has been teaching Ikebana in Florida since 1961. She was appointed to be the director by Sofu Teshigawara when the branch was founded in 1969. She received numerous awards from Sogetsu School, including Exemplary Award, Sofu Award and Glory Award. In 1975, she received the title of Rigi, the highest rank awarded from the School. Mrs. Mihori teaches the Ikebana classes at Boca Raton Museum of Art School and travels around the world to give demonstrations and workshops.
Aside from her passion for Ikebana, she is an ambassador of Japanese culture. She teaches Omote-senke Tea Ceremony. She served as a board member of Morikami Museum since its opening. For her tireless promotion of Japanese culture, she was presented the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays by the Emperor of Japan in 2012.
